Dr. Uhr has been helping alcoholics and families of alcoholics for over twenty four years in her psychiatric practice. She noticed that although there are resources to help problem drinkers, the help available to those married to an alcoholic was greatly lacking. Alcoholism disrupts family life and she is committed to helping  families stay together. In her experience, most spouses of alcoholics either ignore or “enable” the problem to continue because he/she has no idea what to do. Therefore, she wrote her first book to help turn their marriages around.

Dr. Uhr’s experiences treating addiction have compelled her to do everything she possibly can to actually PREVENT addiction. Schools do an inadequate job in the area of preventing substance abuse in teens which has reached epidemic proportions.

Dr. Uhr has written 2 workbooks for PREVENTION of drug and alcohol abuse in pre-teens and teens. The books are very engaging and chock full of cutting-edge information.
